Meet the Good Shepherd Staff

Ed Walker

Ed Walker, Pastor

Ed is a native of Newport News, VA where he grew up enjoying water sports from swimming to sailing. He received the BA degree from William and Mary in 1980, the Master of Divinity degree from Duke University in 1984, and the Doctor of Ministry degree from Union-PSCE in 2002. He began his ministry in 1983. Ed is married to the former Sharon Harley of Atlanta, Georgia. Sharon is an occupational therapist with Goochland County Schools. They have two children, Catie, a college student studying nursing, and Harley, who attends VA Tech. An avid racing sailor, Ed is always looking for a reason to be on the water.

Linda Crabbs

Linda Crabbs, Associate Pastor

Although Linda was first appointed to Good Shepherd in July 2007, she and her family have been associated with the church since the late 1990s, during which time she was called to ministry. She is currently working to complete her Master of Divinity at Virginia Union University. Linda has performed a number of roles in Good Shepherd including: Stephen's Minister, Music Administrator and Worship Coordinator for the 11am service. She currently oversees our newcomer ministries. Linda's Husband Ken works in IT management for Genworth Financial. Their son Christian is 4th grader at Echo Lake Elementary.

Karen Albro

Karen Albro, Church Office Administrator

Good Shepherd Church Office Administrator Karen Albro has been on staff since August 1991 and a member since 1980. Karen loves to spend time with her family, read and go to the beach. She is married to Lenny, has three children, Lindsey, Alex and Niki, two grandchildren, Caleb and Adie and son-in-laws, Brandon and Johnny.

Jodi Bischoff

Jodi Bischoff, Minister of Child Discipleship

Jodi Bischoff, Minister of Child Discipleship, is passionate about children and helping them become young disciples of Christ through Good Shepherd's children's programs such as Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Kids With Purpose. She graduated from James Madison University (Go Dukes!) in 1991 with a degree in accounting. She is married to Paul who works for Haley Automotive Group. They have two elementary age sons and a middle school aged daughter. In her leisure time, you can find her boating and relaxing at Lake Gaston, scrapbooking, and enjoying her children’s sporting events. Jodi has been a member of Good Shepherd since 1993.

Joe Torrence

Joe Torrence, Minister of Youth Ministries

Hey, I'm Joe Torrence, the Youth Minister at Good Shepherd UMC or FUEL (For Us Everlasting Love) as we like to call it. I am a graduate of Ferrum College (Go Panthers!) and Eastern Mennonite Seminary (Go Mennonites!). I have been in youth ministry for 14 years and still love it. I am married to the incredibly awesome Casey and have two amazing little girls Ellie and Riley. My family, next to Jesus, is the center of my world. I love cheesburgers and doing stuff outside. Actually, my favorite thing to do is eat cheeseburgers outside! I try to be like Jesus and so that makes me a Jesus wanna be. See you Sunday.

Lisa McGehee

Lisa McGehee, Minister of Adult Discipleship and Director of Communications

Lisa McGehee, Minister of Adult Discipleship and Director of Communications, loves to empower people to not only become but to live as disciples of Christ. An educator at heart, Lisa is always looking for ways to help people connect their personal stories with God’s story. She believes lives are transformed when they are open to not only reading the Gospel but also living the Gospel. Lisa earned a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1988 and the Master of Divinity from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond in 2007. She is married to Donald who has a passion for organic gardening and chair caning. In their spare time, they enjoy refinishing furniture, antiquing and hiking. Lisa loves fiber arts, reading historical fiction and scrapbooking. You will often find her knitting prayer shawls for Good Shepherd's Prayer Shawl Ministry. E-mail Lisa -

Tom Heaton

Tom Heaton, Music Director

Tom, who came to us from First United Methodist, in Roanoke Rapids, NC, holds a Master's Degree in Sacred Music from the Baptist Theological Seminary of Richmond. In addition to directing, Tom plays piano and composes his own music. Tom and his wife Joy live in Waverly, Virginia where she is the Pastor of the local Christian Church. She is working towards her Doctorate of Divinity.

Carol Draper, Treasurer

Carol Draper loves detailed financial information. In her fifth year as Treasurer, she ensures we are excellent stewards of God's money. She graduated from Randolph Macon College where she met her husband Nat. Carol has been a member of Good Shepherd since 1996 and she and Nat were married here in 1998. They are the proud parents of two daughters. Carol loves to volunteer at her daughter's school and work with preschoolers here at Good Shepherd. She is passionate about music and especially children's music. Carol also enjoys horseback riding and traveling to new places. Watch out, you never know when you might see Carol and Nat on the Amazing Race someday!
